OUR PROGRAMS

The Riverdale Children’s Theatre produces full scale musicals and offers theatre education classes for kids.   There are different programs for different ages:

Broadway Babies and Broadway Kids Classes

( K - 3rd Grade)

This program is open enrollment program and their is no need to audition.  Enrollment is on a first come basis, and a sign up link will be posted on pour website 4-6 weeks prior to our first class. The workshops will focus on the basics of dance, vocal production, diction, projection, and performing in group numbers. Broadway Kids will also begin concentrating on solo performance and scene work from a musical theatre show. Students will work on stage, with a final presentation for family and friends, giving the students the opportunity to perform before a live audience. This is a 60 minute class and runs for 12 classes. Fees are between $235 and $285,  which includes a music folder, song CD, video of final presentation and a Broadway Babies T-shirt.

CENTERPIECE PRODUCTIONS ( 3rd - 8th Grade)

AND

SPOTLIGHT PRODUCTIONS  (8th - 12th Grade)

These productions are by audition based generally geared for more experienced young performers with more rehearsal hours and goals. Our exciting productions are directed and choreographed by seasoned professionals, working in a fun, creative and nurturing environment. The cast works with the production team to create a high quality show with professional lighting, scenery and costumes for the entire community to enjoy.

RCT Riverdale - (Centerpiece and Spotlight Productions) These productions rehearse at different locations in Riverdale. Performances are often held each winter and spring at Hayes Auditorium of the University of Mount Saint Vincent

RCT BARNABAS - (Centerpiece Productions) These productions are held each winter and spring in the main auditorium of St. Barnabas Elementary school in Woodlawn, the Bronx.

Time Commitment: Once the casting for each show is completed, the cast will usually meet 2-3 times weekly. If you are cast in a principal role, you will be needed on some additional evenings or afternoons. The week prior to opening night is called “tech week” and there will be extra scheduled rehearsals. Attendance is mandatory for all tech rehearsals and performances.  On some shows, the rehearsal commitment for youngest cast members may often only one day per week until we get closer to the performance dates.  Also, to help keep our tuition prices low, parents or caregivers of RCT actors are often required to commit to volunteer hours, usually only one afternoon  or one performance, to help with numerous tasks associated with the production.

Tuition/Responsibilities for our Centerpiece/Spotlight Productions

are generally $495 per actor* + a Booster commitment and a mandatory volunteer sign up.

The tuition fees cover all of the expenses associated with the production, including the costume fee.  Tuition also includes a professional video of the final show.  Scholarships and payment plans are available. Multi Program Discounts are also available. Families with more than 1 child enrolled in an RCT productions are eligible to receive a $50 discount per child.
